Runway for extraterrestial cultures

Expectations, hope,
are central to this piece.
If the landing actually takes place,
Houten will be in the centre of everyone’s attention

– breaking news –

A historical place for all time.
The expectations
and the hope remain,
as long as there is no landing anywhere else in the world.

Press release:
‘World's first runway for extraterrestrial cultures’ The two roundabouts connecting the municipality Houten with the A27 highway and their connecting road have been transformed into a runway for extraterrestrial cultures. The one roundabout is a UFO landing platform, a lighted smooth tar plate decorated with a giant letter U. On the other roundabout a control tower, which signals in two light colours whether safe landing is possible or not. On the 500 metre long road between the roundabouts, blue sunken floor lights, as seen at airports. The runway is a serious attempt to offer extraterrestrial cultures a possibility to land. It's a monument for hope and expectation.
