Save Me From This Cold -
Stedelijk Museum Breda

February 15 till August 23, 2020

The exhibition features a selection from The Essential in installations, combined with objects from the museum’s collection. Focused around three themes: the longing for love and comfort, the position of women in the global crisis, and morality and faith.

In the film Save Me From This Cold people tell of their personal search for a life filled with love and comfort. Each have experienced that this isn’t too common, or easily reached.

The Times They Are A’Changing tells of women and change in society. About democracy, #MeToo or the difference between the rich and the poor. All around the world women’s rights are under pressure. The statue of Eve by sculptor Lucas van der Meer (1881-1941) watches from her position on the barricade, like a tired Jeanne d’Arc.

Corpus Christi is a portrait of Josphat Gwaro Makori from Accra. Makori has killed and tortured, but has since been converted: “I spoke to God and He forgave me.”
